Starting as a small typesetting and copy shop in Waco, TX in 1985, Matrix-7 Studios opened its doors to a market still new to profesional typesetting using Macintosh computers. Do you remember 1985? Desktop publishing was in it's infancy. The Macintosh and the Laser printer were just coming into their prime. The CD-ROM; not yet in existence. There was still much work still done by hand. Manual pasting up or graphics, film stripping, halftone camera work. Some firms were still using Linotype and Compugraphic Typesetters. Our business focused on high quality typesetting, copying, and printing services and Waco, TX was a great place to start.
Moving to Arlington, TX in 1995 gave Matrix-7 an expanded customer base and access to new technogies as they first come to market. The name was changed to Clarity gmi and the company diversified into website development, large format digital printing, signage and more. After sucessfully moving the business to new opportunities and possibilities, Clarity gmi made national and international marks by launching it's websites, www.claritygmi.com and www.theclaritystore in 2001.
The internet greatly expanded our customer base and also opened up one of our best kept secrets to the market place. The "Plastic Business Card" became our top seller online in only a matter of months and still remains one of our flag ship products. A specility devision of Clarity gmi was developed in 2002, and named Plastic Business Products or PBP. Often customers asked us what Clarity gmi stood for. It's very simple. Clarity stands for our commitment to giving clear answers, pricing and more on any product or service that we sell. The GMI stands for graphics, music and internet services.
As the business continued to grow we decided to change the name to reflect our flagship product and also the city that has been so beneficial to us. Dallas Card Works is the new name that you can count on for all of your business solution needs. has evolved from the production of copies and basic typsetting to become one of the world's leading manufactuers and resellers of premium custom plastic printing and more.
